ほとんどの研究はチャイルド以降であり、インターネットから入手できるものはそれほど多くない。短い概説としてはバラッド集の序文なども参考になる（ESPBの簡約版へのKittredgeの序文、Quiller-Couch などよりは、MacEdward Leach, The Ballad Book; Friedman, The Viking Book of Folk Ballads of the English-Speaking World のほうがよいだろう）。書誌には W. バラッド集の序文・各バラッドへの注釈を除くと、チャイルドが書いた唯一のバラッド解説である（他には無署名の短い記事がThe Nation誌 に２点あるくらいで、バラッドの論文を１本も書かなかった）。後半は書誌で、本文にイギリスのバラッドに関する記述が驚くほど少ない。事典のPDF (986 MB) は非常に大きなファイルで、しかもこのファイルには欠陥があるかもしれない（うまく開かない場合には、FTP の中のDjVu ファイルをPDFに変換）。TXT (16 MB) はOCRの読み取りのままで編修されていないので、誤りが非常に多い。"Ballad Poetry" はDianne Dugaw, ed., The Anglo-American Ballad: A Folklore Casebook (Garland, 1995, pp. 57-67; 1875-80年版からで、書誌を割愛）; Journal of Folklore Research (Vol. 31, Nos. 1-3, 1994, pp. 214-22; 1900年版からで、書誌にかなり多くの変更がある) に再録されている(本文はほぼ同じ)。

バ ラッド全般を論じた最初の著作であり、しばらくの間はバ ラッド研究に強い影響があった。しかし、ガマリーは "communal authorship" の唱道者で、これは「注意して読むべき文献」と言われる。"incremental repetition" の解説などは参考になるだろう。Dover Publications からのリプリント版（1958）がある。Pound, Poetic Origins and the Ballad (以下参照) などと対比して読まれるとよいかもしれない。なお、ガマリーには The Beginnings of Poetry (1901) という著書もある。

本 アーカイブ は、バラッド詩(Literary Ballad)を網羅的に蒐集したデータベースである。2007年12月末に第1期分として、詩人9名（Allingham, Baillie, Davis, Hardy, Hood, Kingsley, Leyden, Tickell, Wardlaw）、作品91篇の製作を完了した。
伝承バラッドの集大成がFrancis James Child編纂のThe English and Scottish Popular Ballads (1882 -98)であるのに対して、伝承バラッドを職業詩人が模倣したバラッド詩の集大成は今日まで存在せず、バラッド詩研究の発展には大きな障害になっていた。 その障害を克服すべく、バラッド研究会をベースにした製作者集団（監修：中島久代、山中光義；データ作成：伊藤真紀、三木菜緒美、山中光義、中島久代、宮 原牧子、吉田有紀）が、各種文献からまとめあげたバラッド詩のリストをもとに、作品を収集し、テキスト化 し、データと してまとめたものが本アーカイブである。2008年度には第2期分を、2009年度には第3期分を完成させ、最終的には、18世紀から20世紀にわたる 143名の詩人の作品742篇を収録する予定である。
