日本バラッド協会

アン・ブリッグズ（1944年生まれ）はイギリスのフォーク・シンガーです。商業的な成功を求めませんでしたし、どちらかというと「寡作」ですので、一般にはそれほど知られていないかもしれません。しかし、主として1960年代から70年代に活躍し、多くの歌手（Maddy Prior, Sandy Denny など）に影響を与えました。最初のソロ・アルバム(1)では無伴奏で伝承的な歌唱法を模しているものが多いです。伴奏つきの音楽に慣れ親しんでいる方々にとって彼女の無伴奏の歌は「好み」ではないかもしれませんが、バラッドの場合、これが伝統的な歌唱です。歌い手は歌詞の内容に注意を集中していますので、聞くほうにも同じような対応が必要です。ただし、チャイルド・バラッドは少なくて、初めの2曲と “Barbara Allen” くらいかと思います。
